Adding a watermark

To add a watermark to an ebook, follow these steps:

  1. Upload the original ebook to BoMark. After logging in, select Files in the main menu and then click on the Add File button. If you want to give your ebooks their own ISBN number, as is customary, enter this on the form and fill in the other details.
  2. If you want to sell the ebook via your webshop, you will need an API key. You can find this under Status, Advanced. Copy this API key. Use this key for your website's webshop software. Create a product in the webshop software, enter the ISBN number for the product (ISBN or EAN box) and tick the box to indicate that you want to sell it via BoMark. Upon purchase, the buyer of the e-book will receive a link to BoMark, where the e-book will be personalised for this buyer (the e-book will be provided with their name, email address and various watermarks).
  3. If you want to watermark the e-book without using a webshop, you can also do this directly in BoMark. Create a New transaction in the Transactions menu. Enter the name and email address. In the File field, you can enter the file name (the system will make suggestions as you type) and select it. If you want BoMark to send the recipient an email with the download link, tick the box “Send email to recipient”. If you want to send the email yourself, first save the transaction. You will then see the details of the transaction, including the download link. Use the clipboard symbol to easily copy the link to your clipboard and then paste it into your email.
  4. Are you curious to know whether the recipient has done anything with the download link? Go to transactions and search for the relevant transaction. Select Details. Any downloads will be listed at the bottom of the details screen.
  5. If the recipient takes too long to download, the transaction may have expired, especially if you choose a short expiry period (e.g. 3 days). To help the recipient, you can extend the expiry period. Go to Transactions, find the transaction, select Details and click on Change limits at the bottom of the page.
